Cultivating Joy...
Are you finding it difficult not to get caught up in the panic over our faltering economy? Are you glued to the television in the evening as they announce state budget cuts and more job losses? Are you among those playing Chicken Little claiming that, “the sky is falling?”
Have you chosen to feed the collective energy of fear?
Each of us has the responsibility to choose our perspective, and our choices have a profound effect on the collective whole (ie, our economy). If life is a reflection of our beliefs, and we choose to believe in lack, then only lack can enter our experience.
When I look at what is occurring in the global economy, I see systems (financial, political, economic, etc.) dying off that do not serve the greater good. In order for that which will serve the greater good to emerge, the old has to crumble away. I see this as a natural cycle of rebirth, and I am fascinated that this rebirth is going global. We are truly all in this together.
It’s easy to feel powerless in the face of what feels like an economic tsunami. As my friend, Janet, would say, “It’s too big, and too tall.” But what can we do?
We can choose to be the guardians of our own wellbeing. It’s an inside job. Instead of feeding your senses with doom and gloom news stories, nourish your soul with the beauty of a sunrise. Seek ways to cultivate joy. We tend to wait for joy to come to us, but the more joy we actively seek and create within ourselves, the more we attract. Joy puts us in a state of being open to life’s miracles.
Simple tips for cultivating joy in challenging times (that don’t cost a thing!):
- Appreciate nature
- Do something nice for someone
- Volunteer
- Play with your children, pet or friends
- Remember that you are not alone
- Be gentle on yourself
Humans are creative, resilient beings. The more we collectively focus on what is good and beautiful, the greater effect we have on the world we are creating together.
Let’s cultivate joy and transform this world together!
Peace.
